Description
This illustration of a biblical possession in noted for its attention to architecture and was displayed in the Philadelphia Museum of Art in the John G. Johnson Collection, 1917. The image is by that artists Francesco d'Antonio, 1425-1426. The fifteenth century painting shows a nude, male demoniac kneeling before Christ and the disciples, all adorned with halos in front of a chapel-like structure. In the background Judas is receiving thirty pieces of silver for betraying Christ. There is a small figure below the demoniac though it is unclear whether it is child or a demon.
